March Favorites & Empties
10:09 AM
I hope you all are having a wonderful day so far! I've kept this monthly favorites to a minimum since I've been trying to be good and not spend so much $$ on makeup ;). As you can see many of these items are new to my collection and some are old and well-loved products I've rediscovered this month.
March Favorites
1. Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Lip Balm (Berry Soft) - My lips have been super dry from the cold winter months so I needed a lip balm that is moisturizing but still has a bit of color to it. I love how cute the packaging is and that it actually helped treat my chapped lips.
2. NARS Lipgloss (Turkish Delight) - This has been a long-time favorite. It's a milky baby pink gloss that is perfectly sheer for everyday wear or over a darker lipstick to help tone down the intensity. I even love wearing this on its own.
3. ELF Studio Mineral Lipstick (Rosy Tan) - I bought this awhile back when I ordered some ELF brushes online to try out, but never got around to using it and forgot about it! When I was cleaning out my lipsticks and picking out my springtime favorites I realized there were a lot of lipsticks I haven't even tried. Ever since then, I've been wearing this almost everyday and pairing this with NARS Turkish Delight lipgloss on top to add some shine.
4. OPI Nail Polish (I Don't Give a Rotterdam!) - This has been my go-to nail polish for the last 2 weeks! The fine silver glitter makes this polish fun and unique. I love how it's not matte like most of my polishes are and the grey-purple-gunmetal color is just so beautiful!
5. NARS Sheer Glow Foundation (Punjab) - Stepping away from full-coverage foundation this one is definitely more on the sheer side. However, I love this foundation because it's basically like second skin! It's sheer but has light to medium coverage and is very buildable. It's perfect for minimal makeup kind of days especially during the summer when it's hot out. I have dry to combination skin so I need a foundation that is moisturizing even during the summer. I also love how this foundation doesn't make me look like a grease-ball and is long-lasting. If you're looking for something to wear for photos or going out at night this is not full-coverage enough, but if you're looking for something that looks natural and still allows your skin to show through this foundation is perfect for that!
6. MAC Blush (Blushbaby) - I told myself I wasn't going to buy any more makeup from MAC since I haven't been using a lot of them lately, but I couldn't resist getting this blush. I swatched it in store and fell in love with the sheertone beige-pink color. It applies like a dream and is super smooth. I love that it's such a subtle color but it has great color payoff. I've been wearing this blush almost every day!
7. MAC Eyeshadows (Red Brick, Rule, Bamboo, and Concrete) - And again, I went and got new eyeshadows from MAC this month (March) lol. I was on the hunt for a reddish/orange color for the crease as a good transition shade so I ended up getting "Red Brick" and "Rule". MAC eyeshadows are still my all-time favorite but it does get pricey so I try not to buy too many all at once ;). I also picked up "Bamboo" and "Concrete" because I wanted some more neutral shades....that's all I really wear on an everyday basis if I even wear any eyeshadow at all. I've been using these eyeshadows pretty much everyday. I apply either Red Brick or Rule in the crease, Bamboo on the lids, and then Concrete on the outer corners...simple, matte, and easy to create!
8. MAC Blotting Powder - I bought this blotting powder last summer when I was trying out the Mineralize Moisture SPF 15 Foundation since the lady who helped matched my color suggested it. She explained that the foundation is a little on the "oily" side and using a blotting powder will help keep the foundation matte and last longer. Which is true, but I ended up returning the foundation because it basically slid off my face within an hour of wearing it without the powder! I ended up returning the foundation and keeping the blotting powder because I liked how it provided shine control without adding any noticeable colour or texture. It contains Mica and Silica to absorb excess oils and reduce shine on the skin's surface. The compact comes with a puff but I prefer using a kabuki brush for an air-brush finish. I've been using this everyday on top of my foundation since I do get oily around the T-Zone during this time of the year.
9. Real Techniques Expert Face Brush - I'm picky when it comes to foundation brushes; I prefer a brush that can apply foundation quickly and evenly. I love my beauty blender, but it can take some time to blend everything out. Plus, I only use my beauty blender wet so it can get messy. With the Real Techniques buffing brush I've reduced my foundation application time significantly and I'm still able to achieve a flawless and even application. I also love how dense yet soft the brush is.
10. MAC Angled Brush (#263) - Aside from being picky with my foundation brushes I'm also really picky when it comes to what tools I use for my eyebrows. For powder I prefer using a thicker brush but if I'm using gel the MAC #263 brush is by far the best angled brush I've used! It's thin but firm for a precise application. I love it!
March Empties
March Empties
1. Stress Relief Encalyptus Spearmint Candle (Bath & Body Works) - This has got to be my all-time favorite scent from Bath and Body Works! I go through these candles like nothing so that's why I always stock up when BBW have sales or coupons. It really does help me to relax and smells soooo good! It just makes me happy and puts me in a good mood. I also have the body wash and hand lotion from the same line because I just love it that much!
2. MATRIX Biolage Exquisite Oil Shampoo & Conditioner - I really enjoyed using this for the past couple of months especially the shampoo. It leaves my hair super clean and smells so good! The smell reminds me of when you just got your hair done at the salon. My hair also looked healthier and has a lot more shine after using this product. I wouldn't say it's my holy grail or a miracle product, but it definitely helped protect and strengthened my overly dried and colored hair.
3. Marc Jacobs Genius Gel Super-Charged Oil-Free Foundation (Golden Medium) - LOVE this foundation! This foundation claims to be anti-aging, long-wearing, and adds radiance and clarity to your skin. It creates a weightless, natural veil that won't settle into fine lines. An infusion of Soft Focus Powder reflects light to minimize imperfections, while revitalizing multi-vitamins provide supreme hydration for even application and luxurious wear. I would have to agree on this! I love how it's super hydrating and long-wearing yet it doesn't feel thick or sticky. It's so buildable without it looking cake-y. It's like a gel consistency in a liquid form...which is so unique and allows for an even flawless finish. It's unlike any other foundations I've ever tried. It is quite pricey so I was super sad to use it all up, but I knew I had to get a second bottle once I was done with this one.
4. Makeup Forever HD Foundation (Golden Honey) - This foundation claims to be an oil-free medium-to-full-coverage liquid foundation that covers skin imperfections flawlessly while remaining invisible on-screen and in real life. I don't know about the "high-definition" claims but I do like this foundation for everyday wear since it's not super thick. I like how it doesn't settle into fine lines or accentuate any wrinkles or blemishes. The foundation looks really natural but I felt like it could be a bit drying for my skin especially during the winter months when my skin is at its driest. I don't know if I'll be repurchasing this though...it was $43 for a bottle and I just can't justify spending that much money on a foundation if it's not 10/10 for me.
Seen anything on this list you wanted to try out? Let me know what your March favorites are I would love to try them out as well. As always, have a nice day!
