Best Mascaras for Asian Lashes | Drugstore & High-End
5:45 PMWhen I say "Asian" lashes I didn't mean to stereotype or generalize and say that every Asian person have the same exact type of lashes, but in a more general sense I meant to say that I am Asian and my lashes are short, stubborn, and pretty much non-existent. If this sounds like your lashes then you might benefit from some of these tips ;).
I spent A LOT of time over the past few years trying to figure out what type of mascaras and which brand worked best for my stubborn lashes. I don't believe in spending a ton of money on mascara unless it actually works. I've narrowed them down to six mascaras; four of them are drugstore and two are high-end. Even then, I still prefer my drugstore mascaras over my high-end picks just because you pay a lot less and it essentially does the same for my lashes.
- Maybelline Volum' Express Colossal Mascara in Blackest Black - the key here is to use the "waterproof" formula. Waterproof-anything is going to hold your curls a lot better than just the regular formula, trust me on this one! I've tried both the regular and waterproof formulas of the same mascara and it just doesn't work the same.
- Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara (also waterproof) - I was hesitant on giving this one a try because it was $27.50 for one tube! If I ended up not liking it then it would have been such a waste, but I was so excited to discover that this mascara actually separates and holds my curls so well. It was definitly worth the money!
- Lash Sensational Mascara (in Blackest Black) - This mascara is the first patented fanning brush with 10 layers of bristles and a liquid ink formula. At first I did not like how wet and heavy it made my lashes look, but once the formula dries out a bit it holds my eyelashes in place, separates, and lengthens. I do like the bristles on this mascara - it's rubber, but firm so it helps to really separate those lashes!
- Film Noir Full Spectrum Mascara from Hourglass - Film Noir's signature hourglass-shaped brush is designed for optimal application, adding volume, length, lift, and separation to lashes. The intense concentration of panthenol (provitamin B5) adds a reflective, jet-black sheen for dramatic impact. I love how black and intense this mascara is and that it doesn't clump.
- Covergirl LashBlast Volume Waterproof Mascara - LashBlast's patented volume-boosting formula and patent-pending brush are designed to max-out each and every lash, leaving you with the ultimate big lash look. I love that it's waterproof so it will stay put and won't smudge!
- L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Waterproof Mascara - This mascara stretch and extend lashes like wings. The asymetric brush extends and lifts outer corner lashes for a winged-out effect, while precisely defining every lash. This mascara gives a lot of volume without clumping.
All of these mascaras are great in their own ways so I can't say I'd prefer one over the other! Give them a try and let me know what your thoughts are! Have you tried other mascaras and loved them as much as I loved these? Please feel free to share them with me. I would love to try them out :).
